Out‑of‑Hours Contact – Emergencies Only
In an emergency or if there is a serious incident. Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if the incident is in any way water related. The Coastguard will contact any other emergency services (police, ambulance, fire, lifeboat) that are considered necessary. The Coastguard will also contact the Harbour Staff if appropriate, especially if the Harbour Office is closed.
Outside of published office hours, the duty phone must only be used for genuine emergencies.
An emergency is defined as a situation where there is an immediate risk to life, a vessel, or harbour infrastructure, including but not limited to:
-
A vessel sinking or on fire
-
Serious injury or medical emergency within the harbour
-
A vessel dragging anchor or at risk of collision
-
Navigational hazards or pollution incidents
Calls made out of hours for non‑urgent matters are not classed as emergencies. This includes:
-
Asking what time the office opens the next day
-
General weather enquiries
-
Tide times or routine operational questions
-
Booking enquiries or administrative matters
All routine enquiries should be directed to the Harbour Office during normal working hours. This ensures the out‑of‑hours emergency service remains available for those who genuinely need immediate assistance.
