Harbour Watch!
Bridport Harbour works in partnership with Dorset Police and Dorset Council’s local Harbour Consultative Groups to operate the Harbour Watch Scheme.
Harbour Watch is a Dorset Police initiative designed to improve communication across the harbour community — including boat owners, business owners, residents, and visitors — to help prevent crime and reduce anti-social behaviour. The scheme encourages the public to report any suspicious or unusual activity using the Harbour Watch contact form. Information submitted through the form goes directly to the dedicated Dorset Marine Policing Team, where officers assess the intelligence and take appropriate action
Reporting information
- Emergency: Always call 999 if there is an immediate danger to life, a crime in progress, or you require urgent assistance.
- Non-emergency: The Harbour Watch online form is used for reporting non‑emergency incidents, suspicious behaviour, environmental concerns, or patterns of activity that may require investigation.
-
Submitted reports contribute to:
- ongoing marine intelligence gathering
- identification of crime trends
- targeted patrols
- community safety planning
- communication updates to the Harbour community
Accurate and timely reporting helps Dorset Police build a clearer picture of what is happening around Bridport Harbour and enables a more proactive response.

Harbour Watch stickers are placed in various locations around the harbour. They signal that the area is part of the scheme and encourage the public to report concerns. Have you spotted any?
Community Engagement
Harbour Consultative Group members, Dorset Police, HM Coastguard, RNLI and National Coastwatch Institution teams are regularly available within the harbour area to answer questions about harbour management, local water-based activities, safety practices, and crime prevention. Support available includes:
- life jacket safety checks
- security advice
- property and equipment marking
